10

Storyline

10 1979

Seductive and enjoyable adult comedy. Blake Edwards’ 10 is a provocative, sometimes exaggerated but always on-target naughty comedy about social norms, moral values, and midlife crisis. The target is 42-year-old composer George Webber (Dudley Moore), who has everything and is everything for the beautiful woman (Bo Derek) who catches his eye during a wedding. 10 with Moore became a crowd favorite and launched a hit comedy series (Arthur, Mickey and Maude). Julie Andrews, patient girl playing George, returned to the screen after a long hiatus with this film and three years later starred in another Blake Edwards film, Victor/Victoria, with her fiery and creative potential. Derek is widely considered the hottest and most enduring star of the 10s, and this film elevated her to the position of the first major sex symbol of the 80s. Another thing that leaves no doubt about 10 is that director Blake Edwards, known for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Days of Wind and Roses, and 7 successful Pink Panthers, created one of his richest and most famous works.
