A real story about how an interview for a book used abroad turned into a close friendship. Helen Hanff (Bancroft) is a New York-based writer who writes rare English classics for a small bookstore in London. When the bookstore clerk Frank Doel (Hopkins) responds to her letter, something special emerges despite two continents and 20 years apart.
