A Late Quartet 2012
Our characters are a classical music quartet experiencing emotional turmoil before their final concert; portrayed by Hollywood’s brightest actors. When the beloved cellist of the world-renowned string quartet falls seriously ill, the group’s balance is disrupted; Suppressed emotions, conflicting egos, and unbridled passions begin to threaten years of friendship and harmony. As their 25th anniversary concert approaches, the musicians must choose between resolving their issues and staying together, or parting ways forever. Inspired by Beethoven’s extraordinary Opus 131 String Quartet and associated with it, The Last Concerto pays tribute to chamber music and the cultural world of New York City. “I think Opus 131 is a perfect metaphor for long-term relationships that are inevitably tested and require constant effort and fine-tuning as they evolve over time.”
