A Passage to India 1984
The events take place in 1924 in India, a British colony. Adela Quested, played by Judy Davies, is a stubborn, young English woman accompanied by her fiancé’s mother, Mrs. Moore (Peggy Ashcroft). Moore arrives in India and befriends Dr. Aziz (Victor Banerjee). After emerging from a cave injured, Adela claims to have been attacked by Aziz. The British authorities force Adela to go to court, almost declaring Aziz guilty before the trial. Despite no evidence of any crime, Aziz loses his reputation in the eyes of both the British and his own people.
