A River Runs Through It

Storyline

A River Runs Through It 1992

Oscar-winning actor and director Robert Redford’s film based on a true story about fathers and sons. Growing up in a family where love is present but emotions are not expressed, two brothers Norman and Paul try to find their own paths. Fishing with their religious father brings them closer to nature, but doesn’t help them fully understand each other. In the end, the two young men rebel against their father; Norman continues his education at a university away from home, while Paul stays in Montana but leads a destructive life with alcohol and gambling. Even though family ties have weakened over the years, the key to their history still lies in the mystery of the art of fishing. This poetic story set in Montana captures the rhythm of life with stunning landscapes. Director Redford successfully portrays the emotions of people who cannot fully reflect the depth of their experiences in this film.
