DC detective, forensic psychologist, and author Alex Cross (Morgan Freeman) loses control of an operation and quits his job because he feels guilty. Years later, the daughter of a US senator is kidnapped by computer science teacher Gary Soneji. US Secret Service Special Agent Jezzie Flannigan (Monica Potter), responsible for the security breach, teams up with Cross to find the missing girl.
