Angela’s Ashes 1999
In 1935, an alcoholic father, a sick mother, and four young children living in cheap rental houses in the Irish immigrant area of Brooklyn find themselves in the New World due to poverty; they cannot stay in America any longer, so they return to their homeland in Ireland. As the first and only Irish family to bid farewell to the Statue of Liberty instead of saying hello, they will struggle to survive in 1930s Ireland, where hunger, unemployment, and poverty prevail.
