Arachnophobia

Storyline

Arachnophobia 1990

In a film set in the jungles of Venezuela, a group of researchers studying bugs encounters a highly aggressive new species of spider. One of these spiders bites the team photographer, who ends up dead. The photographer’s body is sent on a plane to a small town in the U.S., but the coffin also contains the spider. When the coffin is opened, the spider escapes and makes its way into the basement of the newly arrived Dr. Ross Jennings (Jeff Daniels) and his family’s home. The problem is, this spider is a queen and starts laying eggs there. The poisonous spiders spread from Jennings’ basement to the town, determined to kill the townspeople one by one. The police investigating the mysterious deaths initially claim they are natural. However, Dr. Jennings insists that the deaths are due to poisoning. No one believes Jennings’ theories about the spiders, except for the research team in Venezuela and the town’s exterminator, Delbert (John Goodman), who rush to believe him and come to the rescue.
