At Any Price 2012
Henry Whipple made a fortune from his corn farm, but could never shake off his rival Jim Johnson’s legacy. With old age catching up to him, Whipple decides it’s time to retire. He plans to pass on the responsibility of the farm to his eldest son, Grant. However, when Grant leaves without a sign of return, the plan falls apart. Now, Whipple must appoint his other son, Dean, to take on the job. Dean is a young man whose only dream is to race in NASCAR and has built his life around his passion for cars. This passion is ignited when he earns a spot in the ARCA races, a stepping stone to NASCAR. A major scandal erupts when he is accused of growing his crops using genetically modified seeds under his father’s name. Now, Dean must choose between his dreams and his family’s future. The film is directed by Ramin Bahrani, known for his acclaimed works such as The Man Pushing the Cart, Chop Shop, and Goodbye Solo.
