Awakenings 1990
Dr. Malcolm Sayer is a doctor whose interpersonal skills are very weak and who has spent his entire life conducting scientific research in laboratories. A hospital facing staff shortages is forced to hire Sayer because no one else applies for the job. Sayer wants to treat patients who have been unconscious and immobile for years. Believing that L-Dopa, a drug developed to treat another disease, could be a solution for his patients, Sayer wants to try his luck. The doctor, who obtained permission to test the drug on Leonard Lowe, initially succeeded, but over time, the side effects of the drug began to appear.
