Barbara 2012

Barbara is a story of a woman caught between two lives. Barbara, who wants to escape from the Eastern Bloc and never return, is transferred from East Berlin where she works as a doctor to a small rural hospital. Trying to settle into her new life without drawing attention, Barbara plans to escape from the country while maintaining her ties with the West. However, in the small town hospital where she ends up, André, a children’s doctor, despite his cold demeanor, opens the door to Barbara with his humanity and professional skills. Directed by Christian Petzold, the film won the Silver Bear award at the Berlin Film Festival in 2012 for Best Director and was selected for the 31st Istanbul Film Festival in the World Festival section, where it met the audience.
