Barton Fink 1991
1940s New York socialist playwright Barton Fink is forced to accept the possibility of coming to Los Angeles to write a film screenplay. He settles into a hotel where he meets film studio head Jack Lipnik. Lipnik informs him that his screenplay is quite a B-movie. Despite only managing to write a single sentence on the typewriter, Fink does not find inspiration from the unfamiliar and stifling situation. His next-door neighbor Charlie Meadows, a talkative salesman and a real middle-class man, enters Fink’s life. Other people who enter Fink’s life (such as famous writer Mayhew and his girlfriend Audrey) cannot help but inspire the young intellectual writer and push the screenplay forward. When the stress reaches its peak, Fink finds himself in a supernatural hell.
