Black ’47 2018
A man seeks justice and burns with a desire for revenge, uncovering the darkest episode in Irish history. In 1847, soldier Feeney returns to his homeland devastated by the Great Famine after escaping from the British army. Upon his arrival, he learns that his mother died of hunger and his brother was hanged by the British Army. These events ignite a sense of vengeance in Feeney against the powers that have wronged his family and people. The only person who can stop Feeney’s bloody war is retired British army veteran Hannah, who once fought shoulder to shoulder with Feeney and is now awaiting his execution. The 2018 film Black 47 sheds light on Britain’s dark past, directed by Lance Daly and starring Hugo Weaving and James Frecheville.
