Lazarus (Samuel L. Jackson) used to play blues at “Bojo’s Juke Joint” with his old gritty voice, but those days are long gone. He believed he found the love of his life and stopped singing blues. But when his wife cheats on him and their marriage falls apart, he not only loses his dreams but also feels like his soul is lost in the humiliation of betrayal. He also suffers from a mental disorder caused by anxiety. Ray, who was raped as a child and abandoned by her mother, is the woman all the men in her phone book use. Putting her last hopes on Ronnie (Justin Timberlake) to escape to a better life, but when Ronnie goes off to war, all hope is lost. A drug addict, Ray knows the only way to survive is to give men whatever they want. Until she meets Lazarus. Lazarus is determined to purify Ray from her demonic emotions. And he will use unconventional methods to break the cycle of toxic masculinity. After chaining her daughter to a radiator, he starts implementing his unorthodox methods. Father R.L. (John Cotran) will intervene and make things difficult for Lazarus and Ray. Lazarus manages to bring Ray’s hidden emotions to light, freeing her heart from its chains, and finding the love he was looking for in Angela (S. Epatha Merkerson). Saving Ray, he saves himself.
