Doctors, which premiered at Locarno, is an emotional and realistic hospital drama that revolves around a doctor facing a dilemma in real life. The main character of the film is Simon, a specialist doctor working in the chest diseases department of a hospital. Despite facing death for years, Simon continues to carry out his work professionally, keeping his work and personal life separate. However, when his mother is brought to the hospital where he works in critical condition, Simon will feel his world and beliefs shaken. The director David Roux, who worked as a theater reporter for 15 years and later as a literary manager in cinema productions, drew inspiration from his brother, a chest diseases specialist, and his recently ill mother. Jérémie Renier delivers a fantastic performance as Simon, whom we last saw in Ozon’s Double Lover.
