Baseball master Crash Davis (Kevin Costner) is transferred to Durham Bulls to coach rookie but talented pitcher Abby (Tim Robbins). Reluctant to be a “babysitter,” he takes on the job as he has no other options. Meanwhile, Annie (Susan Sarandon), the team’s biggest fan, annually chooses a player to mentor and help mature. This year, her focus is on Abby. However, she soon finds herself also getting involved with Crash.
