Chaplin 1992
Charlie earns his living by traveling with a vaudeville group. When Mac Sennett discovers him on a tour of America, they go together with the group, including his mother Hannah. He takes his first step into the world-famous silent film industry. Despite gaining worldwide fame with his role as Shorlo, the chaos in his personal life causes him to deteriorate day by day. Furthermore, the tense political atmosphere in America and the position hunting in Hollywood lead to his entry being denied, adding more difficulties to his life. The film chronicles the period from Chaplin’s childhood in a poor family in Britain to four years before his death, featuring a brilliant performance by Robert Downey Jr. Let’s not forget to mention that Chaplin’s mother Hannah is portrayed by Chaplin’s own daughter Geraldine Chaplin.
