Together, they become key players in a large-scale covert operation in the United States. With the participation of the President and Chief of Staff of Pakistan at the time, the CIA operation brings an end to the Russian occupation. However, Charlie Wilson faces criticism for later funding the Taliban and contributing to the rise of Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan.
