18-year-old theater actress Maria Enders successfully played the young and ambitious Sigrid, who drove her employer Helena to suicide. Now, 20 years later, Maria is at the peak of her career but her glory days are behind her. She is faced with the challenge of watching a young actress named Jo-Ann Ellis play the role of Sigrid, which Maria portrayed in her youth. As Maria confronts her past and her life, she must decide whether to become like Helena or embrace her true self. Director and screenwriter Olivier Assayas brings together veteran cinema actress Juliette Binoche with young talents Chloe Grace Moretz and Kristen Stewart.
