After a failed operation, Chief Detective Carl Morck is assigned to work in a department that focuses on unsolved cases, despite being told not to look into certain cases. However, he is determined and starts investigating a case involving a female politician who disappeared years ago. Everyone believes she committed suicide while on a ferry five years ago, but as Carl delves deeper into the case, he uncovers shocking details.
