John McClane, a detective in the New York police department, travels to Los Angeles on Christmas Eve to reconcile with his wife Holly. Holly is at Nakatomi Plaza for a New Year’s Eve party. A group of German terrorists take over the Plaza and hold the people inside hostage. McClane manages to escape the terrorists and now has a mission to rescue his wife and the hostages. The film, which won four Oscars, propelled Bruce Willis to worldwide fame.
