What are the consequences of living in places where you don’t belong? Does the internet give us freedom or captivity? Henry-Alex Rubin’s debut feature film explores the impact of the internet on our daily lives through a series of intertwined stories and introduces us to unforgettable characters: a tense couple who are victims of identity theft, a former police officer who cyberbullies his son, parents whose son attempts suicide, an eager TV journalist with an internet camera always on for adult sites… Premiered at the Venice Film Festival, Disconnect is a “love letter about being flawed and being human.” Rubin also directed the 2005 documentary Murderball about wheelchair rugby.
