Doubt 2008
In 1964, at St. Nicholas Bronx, charismatic Father Flynn (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is determined to break the strict traditions fervently defended by Sister Aloysius Beauvier (Meryl Streep), who firmly believes in the power of fear and discipline. With the changing political climate of the country affecting the church community, the first black student, Donald Miller, is admitted to the school. Young and hopeful Sister James (Amy Adams) shares her suspicions about Father Flynn with Sister Aloysius, revealing that Father Flynn is overly attached to Donald. Sister Aloysius takes action upon this claim, striving to uncover the truth and to have Father Flynn removed from the school. Sister Aloysius is now in an intense battle of wills against Father Flynn’s father. This struggle poses a threat of devastating consequences for both the church and the school.
