Effie Gray 2014
In 19th century England, a young Euphemia “Effie” Gray’s marriage to the famous art historian and critic John Ruskin turns unhappy as she falls in love with the painter John Everett, who is a friend of her husband. With the encouragement of her close friend Elizabeth Eastlake, Effie decides to leave her husband and confront the harsh conservatism of the era. The film, written and starring Emma Thompson, is directed by Richard Laxton.
