Elles

Storyline

Elles 2011

Anne, a journalist from Paris, is a mother of two and one of the highest-paid employees at Elle magazine. She is writing a research article about young girls who turn to prostitution to make a living. During this process, she meets two independent young girls; Alice and Charlotte. This will lead her to question her own truths about the lives of these confident girls. Student prostitution, perceived as a phenomenon related to society, women, morality, and freedom movements, is a subject that director Malgoska Szumowska follows without passing any judgment. The production, which questions the most basic moral rules and beliefs related to money, family, and sexuality, presents a social analysis from a different perspective. Juliette Binoche plays the role of Anna in the film, and the young prostitutes are portrayed by Joanna Kulig and Anais Demoustier. Unfortunately, foreign critics have given the film a low rating due to its unique perspective.
