EMPEROR tells the story of love and honor between enemies, based on true events. It depicts the brave and secret steps taken to restore peace in post-war Japan. Following the American occupation of Japan and the besiegement of Emperor Hirohito after World War II, General Douglas MacArthur unexpectedly becomes the de facto ruler of a foreign country. He assigns Commander Bonner Fellers, an expert on Japanese culture, to solve the pressing issue of whether the beloved yet war criminal Emperor of Japan should be punished. Caught between the political intrigues of his mission and the search for a mysterious teacher in Japan, Fellers is certain that the games he plays will forever change the history of both countries.
