Empire of the Sun 1987
Jim Graham (Bale) lives in Shanghai with an aristocratic British family. However, he cannot escape the horrors of World War II, which is raging and has been invaded by Japan. Like all lives changed by the occupation, the Graham family’s order is disrupted. Sent to a concentration camp in Japan, Jim tries to turn the terrifying environment into a game with his imagination and courage. However, the uncompromising seriousness of the conditions exceeds the child’s imagination.
