Antenna Research, the company known for creating the most popular games, comes together with a few individuals to test a new game that they believe will have a significant impact. The most intriguing of them is Allegra Geller (Jennifer Jason Leigh), the main creator of the game, who is smart and sexy. As they learn about the innovations in the game, they are plunged into an adventure that blurs the line between wildest fantasies and reality. What makes eXistenZ so close to reality is that its connections are directly linked to the players’ nervous system. The game, connected through a hole in the human spinal cord, can access players’ memories, emotions, and fears. As eager players embark on the biggest adventure of their lives, a pivotal moment finally arrives. However, a protestor against games suddenly pulls out a gun and shoots, yelling “Death to eXistenZ, death to Allegra Geller!” The creator of the game is shot and wounded.
