Fargo 1996
In the Midwest region of America, a car salesman (William H. Macy) hires two men (Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare) to kidnap his wife for a $1,000,000 ransom. The kidnapping leads to a series of murders, and pregnant police officer Gunderson (Frances McDormand) begins to investigate. Fargo won two Oscars at the 69th Academy Awards: Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress (Frances McDormand). The film also received numerous international awards, including a BAFTA Award (David Lean Award for Direction – Joel Coen) and the Best Director Award at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival. In 2006, “Fargo” was selected by the Library of Congress as a “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” film to be preserved in the National Film Registry of the United States.
