Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas) is a married, successful, and happy lawyer. One day, when his wife is not home, Dan goes to a party and meets a seductive woman named Alex Forrest (Glenn Close) and they become close. Thinking he just needed a break, Dan intends to forget about her the next day, but getting rid of Alex is not as easy as he thought.
