Flags of Our Fathers 2006
In the film Flags of Our Fathers, directed by the legendary Clint Eastwood, we witness the brutal reality of an intense battle that took place in 1945 on the island of Iwo Jima. After the Japanese capture the island, the American army struggles to reclaim their territory. Eventually, a few soldiers plant victory flags on the top of the mountain and return home as heroes. However, upon returning home, they each face inner conflicts and complex emotions. Based on the writings of James Brandley, a survivor of the war, this emotionally charged film attempts to portray the harsh realities of life during wartime.
