In 1989, Alex’s mother, who lives in East Germany, suddenly falls into a coma. During the eight months she is in a coma, unexpected events unfold in the world political order. When Christiana, one of the Communist Party’s most loyal supporters and supposed defenders, wakes up eight months later, the world she lives in is very different from what she imagined. The Berlin Wall has fallen; capitalism is starting to show itself in East Germany. Considering the fragile state of her mother’s health, Alex decides to hide these truths from her! But it won’t be easy. As winds of change begin to blow not only on the streets but also inside homes, he creates a surreal fairy tale world just for them to protect his mother from all these truths. The film, which won the Best European Film Award from the European Film Academy in 2003, became a favorite at international festivals.
