The action takes place in the 1930s and 40s. Guy, a young Irish man studying on a scholarship at Cambridge, falls in love with Gilda, a half American, half French woman who suddenly enters his room one day. Guy and Gilda, who come from wealthy families, experience a love that will last for years and prepare some for disaster. After graduating, Guy and Gilda share a house in Paris with Gilda’s immigrant Spanish friend Mia. However, on the brink of World War II, life does not go as Gilda imagined. Guy and Mia decide to join the resistance and fight against fascism, leading to a different lifestyle from Gilda’s. During the war, Mia dies and Guy cannot meet Gilda, so he returns to England. After a while, Guy returns to Paris as a British intelligence officer and sees Gilda with German officers. If Gilda is on the path to betrayal, is Guy’s victory truly inevitable?
