Heavy Metal 1981
In the late 1970s, the European comic book movement that took Europe by storm, pushing adult sexuality, violence, fantasy, and science fiction to politically incorrect places, reached its peak in the Le Metal Hurlant magazine. Inspired by this magazine, Heavy Metal was born in the USA in 1977. In addition to European works, the magazine provided a platform for showcasing the works of the finest creators of the New World, and has remained strong to this day even after the “death” of its European counterpart. As for the 1981 film Heavy Metal, it offers a feast of 5 (+1 video extra) stories from the pages of this cult magazine to fans of the genre. While the animation quality may not be very impressive, the content range of these stories is quite interesting in terms of storytelling. The strongest names in this collection are undoubtedly Den and Harry Canyon. As the mysterious sphere Lok-Nar, containing all the evil in the universe, roams the universe, it intervenes in the course of events in many places, including our world. Lok-Nar is nothing more than a device used to combine the indifferent content and visual effects in the animation of Heavy Metal.
