“Cuma Kızı” is a successful 1940 dramatic comedy film adapted from The Main Strip by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, directed by Howard Hawks who passed away in 1977. Starring the late American actress Rosalind Russell who died in 1976 from cancer, British actor Cary Grant, and American actor Ralph Bellamy who passed away in 1991 from a lung disease. The film follows the story of Walter Burns and Hildy Johnson, a divorced couple who used to work for the same newspaper. Hildy decides to leave journalism and her journalist husband behind to marry her fiancé Bruce. However, when she visits her ex-husband Walter at the newspaper office before leaving town, old feelings resurface. Meanwhile, the city is in turmoil over the impending execution of Earl Williams, a man who shot a police officer in a moment of madness. Walter decides to defend Williams’ innocence and sets out to uncover the truth. As Hildy tries to resist the excitement of journalism, Walter’s cunning manipulations threaten to disrupt her romantic relationship and her newfound disdain for journalism.
