Successful architect Newton Davis presents his specially designed home to his girlfriend Becky as a marriage proposal, but she unexpectedly rejects him. Devastated, Newton leaves his new home. He meets a girl named Gwen and spends the night with her in his new home. The next day, he leaves her there. Various events lead the entire town, as well as Newton and Becky’s families, to believe they are married. Newton and Gwen see this as a rare opportunity to make Becky jealous and win her back. They then pretend to get divorced. However, soon everyone in town wants Newton and Gwen to reconcile, and they all try to help them get back together.
