Based on the best-selling book by Pittacus Lore, the film follows John Smith, a young fugitive running from dangerous enemies sent to kill him. With his guardian and friend Henri by his side, John travels from state to state, constantly changing his identity to evade his pursuers. In his home state of Ohio, John encounters life-changing events, his first love, new and powerful abilities, and connections to others who share his unique destiny.
