North American ideal wife and mother Laney is also a drug addict. Her husband is a well-paid insurance expert, and they have a ten-year-old son, Eli, and a young daughter, Janet. They paint a picture of a family living in prosperity and peace. However, Laney is an alcoholic woman who snorts cocaine in her secret world, sleeping with her son’s friend’s father. The turmoil and unhappy life she is in begin to drag her further down. Some people around her know about her situation but stay silent to avoid disrupting their happy family image. Laney continues to strive to be a good mother and wife despite everything.
