Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-Eda returns to a familiar world with a sweet story of childhood desires and imaginary adventures in his film “I Wish.” The film follows two children, 12-year-old Koichi and his younger brother Ryunosuke, from a broken family. Their parents are divorced, and the siblings are living in different cities. Koichi’s only wish is for his family to be reunited. To make this happen, the two brothers plan to witness a moment when two trains passing in opposite directions cross paths, believing that this will grant their wish. Kore-Eda explores the childhood dreams and search for a better life of two real-life brothers in this new film, which is a continuation of “Nobody Knows” and “Like Father, Like Son.”
