Anton, a doctor living in a pastoral Danish town, travels by train to work in a refugee camp in Africa. The two very different worlds he encounters create a conflict for him and his family, forcing them to choose between revenge and forgiveness. Anton and his wife Marianne consider separation and divorce. Their eldest son, ten-year-old Elias, is bullied by homeless kids at school. Things come to a head when Christian, their new son from London with his father Klaus, steps in to protect Elias. After Christian’s mother loses her battle with cancer and Christian grieves deeply for her death, Elias and Christian quickly bond. However, their friendship is tested when Christian pulls Elias into a revenge plan with tragic consequences, putting their lives in danger. Ultimately, their families must help them navigate the complexity of human emotions, pain, and empathy.
