Jauja 2014
Ancient ones say, whoever seeks to find the earthly paradise “Jauja” gets lost on the way… In 1882, we find ourselves at an advanced outpost in Patagonia during a genocide campaign against the indigenous people. Danish Captain Gunnar Dinesen’s 15-year-old daughter, Ingeborg, runs away from home after falling in love with a young soldier, prompting the captain to venture into dangerous enemy territory to find the young couple. Written by Lisandro Alonso and his first film working with professional actors, Jauja takes us to a place beyond time, where the past fades away and the future loses its meaning, telling the story of the captain’s lonely quest.
