JCVD

Storyline

JCVD 2008

Van Damme, facing financial problems and legal battles for custody of his daughter, is also having issues with lawyers claiming that his violent on-screen characters are preventing him from being a good father. Wanting to take a break, he returns to his family’s home in Belgium where he discovers a story that is nothing like the scripts of his films. During a robbery, he is not only caught but also taken hostage. However, the police have a different take on the situation, believing that the superstar, fed up with the chaos, has gone crazy and is attempting to rob the post office. In this highly entertaining action comedy directed by Mabrouk ElMehri, Van Damme portrays a dramatically different character in a setting reminiscent of Spike Jonze’s “Being John Malkovich”, making an unexpected career move as he exposes all his vulnerabilities in JCVD.
