On April 26, 1986, Anya and Piotr are enjoying their wedding celebration. Little Valeri and his father Aleksey, a physicist at the Chernobyl nuclear plant, plant an apple tree. Suddenly, a nuclear accident occurs at the plant. Yellow rain falls, turning the trees red. Piotr never returns. Aleksey chooses to disappear. Ten years later, the abandoned city of Pripyat is a desolate area turned into a strange tourist attraction. Is there any hope for life?
