Oscar, BAFTA, Emmy, and Golden Globe award-winning Jim Broadbent (Iris, Moulin Rouge) and Olivier Award-winning theater and film star Lindsey Duncan (About Time) star in a poignant and fearlessly realistic comedy about the collapse of a marriage. Le Weekend, directed by Roger Michell (Notting Hill, Hyde Park on Hudson) and written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Hanif Kureishi (My Beautiful Laundrette), follows British couple Nick and Meg as they decide to return to Paris for their thirtieth wedding anniversary in hopes of rekindling their relationship. However, their journey does not go as planned, and the events they encounter only further highlight their differences and tensions. When the couple accepts an invitation to dinner from Nick’s trendy former friend Morgan (Jeff Goldblum) who lives in a fashionable Paris neighborhood, surprises ensue. The exuberant finale, set against a backdrop of overlapping events, is one of the best references in recent years – in this case, Godard’s Band of Outsiders.
