Recently, Jesse Fisher, a lonely and introverted man who is not very happy with his job, lives a life filled with books. His deep nostalgia for his time at Ohio school – the restaurants, dorm rooms, parties, and poetry workshops – makes him feel like his best days are behind him. When his favorite professor invites him to speak at a retirement dinner on campus, Jesse quickly accepts the offer. Meeting Zibby, a second-year student and a lover of classical music, awakens in Jesse a sense of empowerment and connection that he hasn’t felt in a long time.
