L’ennemi public n°1 2008
French gangster Jacques Mesrine, the last of a line of criminals, was declared Public Enemy No. 1 throughout his life, consistently ranking high in polls. His glorious death in the heart of Paris, under intense police fire at close range, crowned his legendary status. Even 30 years after his death in 1979, the Mesrine legend still lives on, and for the first time in cinema history, his life is brought to the silver screen with a passionate project. The film, which is both a thriller and a biopic, sought to align as closely as possible with historical facts. The goal of the film was not to create a superhero out of Mesrine, but to portray a complete portrait of the character, including his darkest aspects. The starting point of the story was the man behind the icon.
