Longfellow Deeds is a small-town pizzeria owner and poet who is known and loved by the townspeople for his undeniable innocence. When he unexpectedly inherits a massive fortune from his long-lost uncle, a media tycoon, Deeds’ life is turned upside down. As he travels to New York to claim his inheritance, he is hounded by the press. The second-in-command at his uncle’s media company, Chuck Cedar, tries to thwart Deeds from taking over the company and seize it for himself. Meanwhile, TV producer Babe Bennett reveals her true identity to Deeds in an attempt to exploit him on her show, but ends up falling in love with him instead.
