North by Northwest 1959
Roger O. Thornhill (Cary Grant), who is mistaken for a spy named George Kaplan, is actually a rogue businessman. He is kidnapped by foreign spies Vandamm (James Mason) and Leonard (Martin Landau). Despite numerous attempts to convince Vandamm of his innocence, Roger eventually manages to escape just as he is about to be killed. Angered, Vandamm successfully pins the blame on Roger for the death of a United Nations officer. Now Roger is on the run from both Vandamm, his team, and the local police. As a fugitive, Roger meets a sweet woman named Eva (Eva Marie Saint) and they fall in love. However, Eva is not who she appears to be. During his escape, Roger learns more and more about Vandamm and the operations of the American government. He must now prove his innocence and unravel the mystery behind Vandamm and his men’s operation.
