Based on Ian McEwan’s best-selling novel, this film follows a couple with very different backgrounds in the summer of 1962. Exploring the physical intimacy that accompanies gender and societal pressures, the film focuses on the couple’s strange wedding night. Directed by Dominic Cooke, the 2017 British drama and romance film On Chesil Beach stars Saoirse Ronan and Billy Howle.
