One Eight Seven 1997
Trevor Garfield (SLJ) is a teacher at Roosevelt Whitney High School in Brooklyn. One of his students, gang member and criminal Dennis Broadway, threatens to kill him by writing 187 (police code for murder in California, often used in rap music) on every page of Garfield’s book after receiving low grades in class. The school administration ignores this, and Dennis attacks his teacher from behind in the school hallway, critically injuring him with 12 stab wounds. After 15 months, Garfield recovers and starts working as a substitute teacher at Barn 86 of John Quincy Adams High School in a Los Angeles suburb. There are gangster students there too, but Trevor Garfield will no longer allow these students to harm teachers and students.
